BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 25, (THEWILL) – As the dust settled over Thursday’s deadly attack by Boko Haram insurgents in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, family, friends as well as relatives of the victims of the attack started counting their losses on Friday.
Bilkisu Akinsanya, wife of Abdulwasiu Akinsanya, a printer attached to the Maiduguri Regional Office of the Media Trust, publishers of Daily Trust, Weekly Trust and Sunday Trust, is one of them and is currently in a mourning mood .
Suspected Boko Haram gunmen, on Thursday, had launched multiple attacks on military and police locations in the Yobe capital as well as other public and private buildings in the town.
Her husband was reportedly caught in the crossfire while on his way to Kano along with his family.
Many civilians were also killed in the deadly attack.
Bilkisu, who is now taking refuge at the Maisandari Police Divisional headquarters in Damaturu, narrated how her husband was killed around 5.30pm when their vehicle broke down in Damaturu shortly before the Boko Haram insurgents launched the attacks.
“I and our children were with him when he was killed. The dead body of my husband has been taken away to a hospital by security agents…I am here (police station) with my children,” she said on Friday.
