Boko Haram: Fatality Figure Rises To 133 In Izge

BEVERLY HILLS, February 17, (THEWILL) – The people of Izge town in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State are still burying  their dead following the Saturday night attack by Boko Haram insurgents.

The fatality figure which stood at 93 on Sunday has risen to 133  as remains of 40 more  victims who died in the surrounding bushes were for brought to the town for burial Monday morning.

There are fears that more corpses may be still be brought as the search for the missing residents of the town continues.

Lending credence  to the fear that the fatality figure may still go up is the fact that a lot more of those injured in the attack are on danger list in various hospitals in the area where they are receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, the town  with  a population of  just above 10,000 persons has been  deserted as the residents continued to flee  for fear that the insurgents may launch a fresh attack.

Governor Kashim Shettima, who has been out of the state since weekend,  is expected to pay a condolence visit to the town on  Tuesday.

A protocol officer attached to the governor,while confirming this said:  “The governor is already on the way back to town and will be visiting the place on Tuesday.
