SAN FRANCISCO, December 11, 2013, (THEWILL) – Coming barely two weeks after Boko Haram insurgents launched a devastating attack on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the insurgents on Wednesday stormed the Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu road, killing nine passengers in a passenger bus and a Golf car close to Bulabulin Ngaura village of Damboa Local Government Area.
Borno highways, of recent, have become the target of Boko Haram attacks where motorists are waylaid and killed almost on a daily basis.
And when the insurgents struck on Wednesday, many motorists had to make a detour as they ran for dear lives.
Narrating their experience in Maiduguri on Wednesday, those who escaped the siege said the remains of the nine passengers killed by the insurgents were seen on the highway with machete cuts on their throat.
Some supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC who were said to be returning to Biu from Maiduguri were forced to make a u-turn following the siege by the gunmen.
Efforts to get official confirmation of the attack proved abortive when filing this report due to network problem with the telecom service problem.
