BEVERLY HILLS, June 05, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, believes that had the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari sustained the successes recorded against Boko Haram terrorists by the Goodluck Jonathan administration which made it possible for 2015 elections to be conducted in the North-East, the insurgents would not have regrouped afterwards.
A statement signed and issued on Monday by the spokesman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, held that the APC-led Federal Government is fighting Boko Haram with weapons procured by Jonathan, who served as president under its platform.
The main opposition party maintained that the prolonged herdsmen attacks on Nigerians across the country have worsened the country’s security situation in the past two years than in the 16 years it held sway at the centre.
Stressing that the APC-led government lacks the political will to end herdsmen crisis, Adeyeye said, “The Security Situation in the Country today has worsened with the rampaging herdsmen’s attacks killing innocent and harmless people unabated and sacking communities.
“The scourge of herdsmen attack across the Country under the APC is more than the activities of Boko Haram in the North East.
“The efforts of the PDP in fighting Boko Haram activities still speak volume of its sensitivity towards preservation of citizens’ lives and properties; and if the APC had maintained the success achieved during the 2015 Elections in the North-East Region, the deadly Group wouldn’t have regrouped.
“It is also on record that it was the same weapons bought by previous PDP administration that the present government is still using to prosecute the war on insurgency in the Northeast.”
