BEVERLY HILLS, December 19, (THEWILL) – Tragedy was averted in Geleri village, Borno state as two suicide bombers were killed while attempting to detonate the Improvise Explosive Device, IED, strapped on them at a crowded area in the village.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, ASP Victor Isuku confirmed this in a statement on Saturday, explaining that, “at about 2030hrs yesterday, two female suicide bombers were halted to stop for routine check at Geleri village  which is about 5km to Muna Garage, an outskirt of Maiduguri.
“One of the suicide bombers detonated IED strapped to her body killing her and her accomplice whose IED vest did not explode. Three residents of the area were also injured. The command’s EOD unit rushed to the scene to render the unexploded IED safe.”
The PPRO however stated that normalcy has since returned to the village as security operatives have been detailed to ensure that no further incident is experienced in the area.
