SAN FRANCISCO, July 23, (THEWILL) – A bomb exploded around mid day in Kaduna killing at least 25 persons along the busy Alkali road in the city.
The blast occurred at the end of a Ramadan lecture delivered by Sheik Dahiru Bauchi, who eyewitness said was a target of the blast.
Just as first responders and emergency personnel were arriving the scene of the blast, another explosion was heard around Kawo District in the city though details were sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
The police confirmed that the first blast targeted moderate Islamic cleric Bauchi, who had just finished preaching at the Murtala Muhammed square. He escaped unhurt.
It is however unclear which group carried out the attacks but the Boko Haram, a terrorist group has been behind dozens of deadly attacks in northern Nigeria since 2010.
Eyewitness said the explosion left body parts and damaged vehicles at the scene of the blast.
