BEVERLY HILLS, August 08, (THEWILL) – With barely five months to the Governorship election in Borno State, Governor Kashim Shettima, who mostly governs the state from Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, has dissolved the state’s executive cabinet with immediate effect.
Hush talks amongst top government officials in the state is that Shettima governs mostly from Abuja because of fear of being attacked by Boko Haram fighters who have unleashed unending devastating attacks in several towns in the state.
Friday’s dissolution order according to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Ambassador Baba Ahmed Jidda said all commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants have been sacked.
The commissioners, according to the statement, are to handover the affairs of their ministries to their respective permanent secretaries.
“The executive governor wishes to convey his profound appreciation to all those affected for their dedication, selfless service and sense of patriotism in supporting him to serve the people of Borno State under the most difficult condition.”
All commissioners and special advisers are advised to return their official vehicles and other government properties in their possession to the permanent secretary, Government House, the statement added.
