…Says He’s Only Looking For Relevance
SAN FRANCISCO, November 18, (THEWILL) – A group in Borno State, the Borno PDP Progressive Agenda, has taken a swipe at a former Liaison Officer of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, to the National Assembly, Alhaji Kashim Imam, describing him as a person with complex, who is only looking for relevance.
Reacting to Imam’s recent allegation that Borno State governor Kashim Shettima has squandered N500 million in three years, the group said the “voyeur Kashim Imam” should cover his face in shame for turning back to criticise the governor he praised to the high heaven a few months ago.
Coordinator of the group, Bakura Lawan, in a statement on Tuesday, also dismissed Imam as nothing but “a mere stooge and handbag to Ex-Governor Ali Modu Sheriff.”
He said it is unfortunate that Imam, who has been contesting and losing the Governorship election in the state since 2003, has plunged from the mainstream PDP to become an acolyte of Sheriff, who, according to the group, is new to the party.
Imam is a frontrunner for the PDP governorship ticket ahead of the 2015 governorship poll.
Lawan said the two-term gubernatorial candidate of the party currently “lacks status within the PDP and is aimlessly working to be noticed.”
According to the statement, “Kashim Imam knows he was only being political, we have him on record in places he strongly commended the good efforts of Governor Kashim Shettima in moving Borno forward despite the security situation and at the right time, we will present him to the good people of Borno State for speaking from both sides of his mouth.
“The truth is sad, as unpopular as former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff is, Kashim Imam is actually rated far lower than him at the moment. Everybody thought he had a mind of his own because he regularly claimed to be his own boss. It is now evident that people misjudged his height for common sense. He left PDP in 2011 and returned weaker than he left it without any of those who left with him to ANPP, now APC.
” A smart person doesn’t allow a visitor into his bedroom after a long exit from his home, he goes into the bedroom first to put it in order before the visitor comes in. Kashim Imam would have scored a political point if he had returned to the PDP before Sheriff did after the APC national convention. That would have shown his height wasn’t just for nothing. As it seem now.”
According to Lawan , “Sheriff dragged him into the PDP like a baby that is fed from a mother’s breast. Sheriff has no rating for Kashim Imam, he knows that with the tall man in PDP, he will be easy to be beaten by Mala Sheriff (Sheriff’s younger brother) in the PDP Governorship primaries and still remain in the party with nowhere to run to. Kashim Imam, like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, once mocked him at the launching of Professor Emeritus Umaru Shehu’s auto-biography in Abuja, as a permanent aspirant for the office of the Borno governorship. Insha Allah, he will never be Governor because his heart is evil.”
