BEVERLY HILLS, CA, January 18, (THEWILL) – Chief Michael Botmang, 76, a former Governor of Plateau State, has died inside his country home in Zawan, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The politician who had been ill for a while suffering from diabetes and kidney failure, died on Saturday morning.
The current state governor, Mr. Jonah David Jang in a statement said he had served humanity to the best of ability and will be greatly missed.
Botmang, born 1938, was a two-term deputy to Chief Joshua Dariye from 1999 to 2007 and acted as Governor from 13 November 2006, following Dariye’s controversial impeachment by six out of the 24 members of the state House of Assembly, though the Supreme Court subsequently quashed the impeachment and returned Dariye to power six months later.
