Brentford Inflict 10th Straight EPL Defeat On Wolves

Brentford

December 20, (THEWILL) — Brentford condemned Wolverhampton Wanderers to a 10th consecutive English Premier League loss with a 2-0 victory at Molineux on Saturday. Keane Lewis-Potter struck twice in the second period to hand the Bees all three points and deepen the crisis for the division’s bottom club.

The hosts threatened first when David Moller Wolfe sent a deflected delivery goalwards, forcing Caoimhin Kelleher into action to push the ball over. Wolves created the better chances early on but could not find a way past the visiting goalkeeper before the interval.

Jose Sa kept Brentford at bay shortly after half-time, denying Kevin Schade on two occasions within 60 seconds. The Portuguese stopper’s efforts proved futile when Lewis-Potter latched onto Vitaly Janelt’s pass over the top in the 63rd minute, finishing calmly after the home defence failed to react.

The winger doubled his tally with seven minutes remaining, meeting Mikkel Damsgaard’s delivery with a firm header. Brentford appeared certain of victory until Matt Doherty was brought down inside the area by Kelleher moments later.

Jorgen Strand Larsen stepped up to take the 88th-minute spot-kick but saw his weak effort saved by the same goalkeeper who had conceded the penalty. The miss summed up another miserable afternoon for Wolves, who remain rooted to the foot of the table.
