SAN FRANCISCO, October 20, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has removed the Head of Service, Mr. Danladi Kifasi from office with immediate effect.
The former Head of Service was appointed by former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in August last year.
Though Kifasi’s exit is yet to be made public by the presidency, PRNigeria, a government sponsored website for press releases and information, said his removal was done in an effort to ensure Federal Character Principle as enshrined in the Constitution.
Kifasi, a native of Taraba State, is from the same North-East zone as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, who is from Adamawa State.
The website said Kifasi who had served as Permanent Secretary in several ministries including Federal Ministry of Finance and Petroleum has prepared for smooth handover in the event of the announcement of new HOS who may likely be from the Southern part of the country.
As at the time of writing, no replacement has been announced for the office. However, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, from Cross River State, has been directed to assume the office temporarily.
