SAN FRANCISCO, August 21, (THEWILL) – The inauguration and swearing ceremony of the 43 ministers-designate has begun in Abuja.
The inauguration is holding at the Council Chamber, State House at the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The Senate had earlier screened and cleared the 43 nominees sent by President Muhammadu Buhari on July 30, 2019.
The swearing exercise is coming a day after the Presidential Retreat for ministers-designate ended.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President Ahmed Lawan; Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, SGF Boss Mustapha and others are also at the venue.
The Minsters are grouped into batches and sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The first batch includes:
Abia – Uchechukwu Samson Ogah
Adamawa – Mohammed Musa Bello
Akwa Ibom – Godswill Akpabio
Anambra – Dr Chris Ngige
Anambra – Sharon Ikeazu
Meanwhile, President Buhari is still in charge of the petroleum ministry as he announced Timipre Sylva as minister of state for petroleum.
Some ministers and their portfolios are:
Festus Keyamo: minister of state Niger Delta Affairs
Timipre Sylva: minister of state for petroleum
Godswill Akpabio: minister of Niger Delta
Uchechukwu Oga: Minister of state mines and steel
Lai Mohammed is still in charge of information ministry.
Chris Ngige (labour) and Mohammed Bello (federal capital territory).
However, Babatunde Fashola will no longer be the minister of power as Saleh Mamman, who was nominated from Taraba, now occupies the position.
