Bye Election: Army Restricts Movement In Borno

SAN FRANCISCO, October 30, (THEWILL) – Nigerian Army on Friday imposed a restriction movement of persons during Saturday’s Borno Central Senatorial bye-election in the state.

Col. Tukur Gusau, the media coordinator of Operation Lafiya Dole, stated this in a statement in Maiduguri.

“The Theater Command OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE wishes to inform the residents of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government Area (LGA) that a restriction order will be effective during the bye election scheduled on Saturday in Borno Central senatorial zone of the state.

“The restriction will involve the use of vehicles, tricycles, bicycles and animals,” he said.

Gusau explained that the restriction would take place between 6 a.m. and 5 pm.

Gusau added: “Similarly, no vehicles would be allowed into and out of the senatorial zone during the bye election exercise.”

He called on the voters to come out freely to exercise their constitutional rights adding that appropriate security measures have been put in place to guarantee peaceful election exercise throughout the senatorial zone.
