December 28, (THEWILL) — Leeds United extended their unbeaten streak in the English Premier League to five matches following a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday. Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his impressive form by scoring his seventh goal across six league fixtures for Daniel Farke’s side.
The hosts took the lead through Simon Adingra, who produced an outstanding finish 28 minutes into the contest. Sunderland came close to doubling their advantage in first-half stoppage time when Brian Brobbey struck the crossbar after Trai Hume had blocked an effort from Brenden Aaronson on the goal line.
Leeds found an equaliser two minutes into the second half when Calvert-Lewin converted from Aaronson’s accurate delivery. The American winger had been denied moments earlier but made amends by setting up the England forward to level the score.
Jayden Bogle had a golden opportunity to claim all three points for the visitors shortly afterwards but could not finish from close range. Neither side managed to create another clear opening in the remainder of the match.
The result leaves Leeds maintaining momentum in their league campaign while Sunderland will feel frustrated at failing to hold onto their first-half lead at home.
