Casemiro Returns To Man Utd Training Following Recovery From Injury

December 11, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Casemiro has returned to training following nearly two months out with injury. The Brazilian international has been sidelined since early November due to a hamstring injury suffered during a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.

In a statement on the club’s website, Manchester United announced that Casemiro is now training on the pitch again as he steps up his recovery. On Sunday, the midfielder was spotted training alone on the grass at the club’s Carrington training complex while his teammates took part in a recovery session.

The hamstring injury was the second ailment suffered by the ex-Real Madrid player in quick succession. Casemiro also injured his ankle whilst on international duty with Brazil in their match against Venezuela. After missing three club matches with the ankle problem, the midfielder returned to action against Newcastle but was then forced off at half-time with a hamstring strain.

Casemiro’s return to training, even if not yet with the first-team squad, will come as welcome news for Manchester United. It could indicate that the Brazilian may be able to return to action sooner than initially anticipated. Manager Erik ten Hag had suggested Casemiro would likely be out until after Christmas.

Speaking at the start of November, Ten Hag explained “I have some time schedules, but it’s difficult to predict as they can get setbacks. I expect some [players] back but Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez have really strong injuries and I don’t expect them back before Christmas.”
