March 19, (THEWILL)- The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has asked Caverton Helicopters to settle the outstanding exit pay and unremitted pension of one of its members, comrade Olayinka Jinadu, and also clear all the union’s unjustifiably withheld check-off dues.
Jinadu’s employment with Caverton Helicopters was terminated by the management in June 2022.
According to the letter signed by ATSSSAN’s Deputy General Secretary, Comrade Frances Akinjole, which was copied to the Director General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Caverton branch chairman of ATSSSAN, Mr. Jinadu has not been paid his severance allowance and also has some of his pension unremitted, which has made his pension inaccessible.
ATSSSAN lamented that Caverton has continued to willfully withhold its check-off dues, adding that all the above infractions were discussed at the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union in Ibadan toward the end of February.
“The NEC-in-Council resolved that: considering all the abortive painstaking efforts our union had invested in persuading your management to act responsibly, and considering the Caverton Helicopters’ penchant for abuse of court processes by rushing to court to seek frivolous injunctions for infractions the company willingly perpetrated, our union still relies on the subsisting ultimatum whenever we are ready to pull the trigger for the ultimate action, either alone or jointly with other victimised unions without further notice.
“It is in this regard we are seriously advising your organisation to settle the outstanding exit pay and unremitted pension of comrade Olayinka Jinadu, and also clear all our union’s unjustifiably withheld check-off dues. Tomorrow may be too late,” the statement added.
