December 03, (THEWILL) — Channel 4 has acquired broadcast rights to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, marking the first time the tournament will be available free-to-air in its entirety across the United Kingdom.
The British broadcaster confirmed the arrangement on Wednesday in conjunction with the Confederation of African Football.
Veron Mosengo-Omba, CAF General Secretary, described the partnership with Channel 4 in notable terms.
“The agreement between CAF and Channel 4 is historic in many ways,” he stated. “It ensures that the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will live in every household in the UK for the first time in the history of the competition.”
Previous editions saw different arrangements for UK viewers. Sky Sports held rights to the 2023 and 2024 tournament, whilst the 2022 edition split coverage between Sky Sports and the BBC, with the latter broadcasting 10 matches including both semi-finals and the final.
The tournament begins on December 21 when Morocco meets Comoros, with the final scheduled for January 18 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. In the United States, beIN Sports USA will serve in the role of primary broadcaster.
Ivory Coast enters the competition defending its title following a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in the 2024 final. Channel 4 continues its diverse sports portfolio, which includes UEFA Nations League coverage, European Championship qualifiers, the Women’s FA Cup, and Paralympic Games.
