Coman, Kane On Target As Bayern Beat Mainz To Go Third

October 21, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich maintained their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season with a 3-1 victory away at Mainz on Saturday. Kingsley Coman and Harry Kane scored in the opening 16 minutes to put Bayern in control. Anthony Caci pulled a goal back for Mainz just before half-time to make it 2-1 at the break. However, Leon Goretzka restored Bayern’s two-goal advantage just before the hour mark as the visitors held on for the three points.

Bayern raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes through Coman and Kane. Coman fired home after being set up by Leroy Sane on the counter-attack. Kane then headed in at the back post five minutes later. The England striker, fresh off scoring twice in the 3-1 win over Italy during the international break, netted his eighth league goal of the season.

Mainz halved the deficit just before half-time when Caci finished from a tight angle. However, Goretzka restored Bayern’s two-goal cushion with a low shot from the edge of the area just before the hour mark. Bayern were able to see out the victory comfortably in the end.
