BEVERLY HILLS, April 06, (THEWILL) – A member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Anthony Ochai, from Benue state, deployed to Sokoto state has died of heart failure.
The deceased was said to have been resting after a football match among the various batches of the scheme, when he suddenly collapsed and died.
The State Coordinator of the NYSC, Alhaji Musa Abubakar made this known during the passing out ceremony of the 1,411 corps members deployed to the state under the 2016 batch ”A”, Stream one.
He said the remains of Anthony were taken to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto where it was confirmed that he died of heart failure.
Abubakar added that the late corps member was serving at the Government Secondary School, Tsamaye, Sabon-Birni Local Government in the state.
He disclosed that Anthony hailed from Ugbokolo village, in Ukopo local government of Benue state and his remains would be buried on Friday in his home town.
The Coordinator went on to state that the service year of 10 corps members were extended for abscondment while 10 others were given state merit awards.
He added that four other corps members were given Chairman’s commendation certificates, and 85 others given commendation letters for outstanding performances.
Abubakar advised the outgoing corps members to continue to be good ambassadors of the scheme.
