September 03, (THEWILL) – Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State have staged a solidarity walk for President Bola Tinubu for reconstituting the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Recall that the youths had earlier staged a protest against the constitution of the board of the Commission.
While constituting the board earlier, the Federal Government replaced Orok Duke with Asu Okang as the representative of the State on the board. However, the Federal Government swiftly reversed the decision and replaced Asu Okang with Orok Duke.
In appreciation of this, the youths defied a heavy downpour on Saturday morning and staged a solidarity walk to the State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the Assembly, the convener of the walk, Ndabo Nta Eke, said the struggle for the replacement of Asu Okang has been on for the last three days and thanked the Governor for his swift response and result.
He also thanked the Speaker, Elvert Anyambem, for being resolute and going all out to stand by his people.
On his part, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Ekpenyong Akiba, said the youths are happy with President Tinubu for responding to their cries.
He thanked leaders of the party in the State for their support and encouraged the Assembly to maintain the status quo and continue to be the people’s parliament.
Receiving the youths, the Speaker of the Assembly, Elvert Anyambem, said the strength shown by the youths indicates that what the State desires is possible.
He thanked President Tinubu for listening to the cries of the people and also deciding that whatever affects the State should be determined by the Governor.
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Emmanuel Ironbar, thanked the President for listening to the State.
He also thanked the President for showing interest in developing the State, particularly the Obudu Cattle Ranch.
He pledged on behalf of the Governor that the State would continue to support the President and help him actualise his dream for the State and Nigeria.
