BEVERLY HILLS, CA, January 24, (THEWILL) – Against all political calculations and permutations, the next governor of Cross River State will emerge through divine intervention.
The Chairman of the state chapter of the Pentecostal Federation of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Emmah Isong,stated this in Ogoja during a prayer rally organised to enable the state Northern Senatorial District produce the next governor of the state in 2015.
The rally which had as theme: ”Thou Lord knowest the heart of all men,shew whether of these…thou hast chosen”Acts1:24 was attended by ,a large crowd of politicians,religious leaders, traditional rulers,youth and women from the five Local Government Areas in the senatorial district.
The cleric said the next governor of the state will not be determined by godfatherism,wealth or affluence and place of abode but greatly through divine intervention.
In a homily drawn from 1st Samuel 16:11,Bishop Isong said God will choose a man with the moral fiber; who has a right-standing with God,and who will sustain the existing peaceful climate in the state.
”Just as David was chosen as a result of his good heart,God will decide who the next governor will be by that man’s good heart.”
He advised politicians to denounce all forms of immorality,cultism,occultism and the likes,saying the tendencies are no longer in vogue.
Bishop Isong who is also the founder of Christian Central Chapel International[CCCI]in Calabar said the Northern zone deserves to be given the 2015 slot for their long patience for the position while the South and Central zones occupied the office.
”If you see anybody from the South or Central coming to contest,he is coming to support you;he is not coming to contest in actual fact,” he said, adding that the theme for the prayer rally as drawn from Acts 1;24 was the prayer of the people of the North in the quest for a governor from the senatorial district.
Bishop Isong said the next governor must work hard to reduce poverty,hunger and strife as well as fix infrastructure.
He therefore urged the people of the senatorial district to remain united and prayerful in their agitation for a governorship position.
Also speaking at the rally were top officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria,[CAN] , Rev. Akwazi Akwazi from South Africa,Rev.Enya Egbe,Rev. C.A.Ogar and Rev.Elias Agbor. They all rallied support for the clamour of the Northern zone as they offered prayers for the peaceful co-existence of Nigerians.
The event also featured the presentation of awards to deserving sons and daughters of the state.
