January 26, (THEWILL) — Dangote Cement Plc has confirmed the employment of 200 graduates following the completion of its Graduate Trainee Programme, marking a key step in the company’s talent development strategy.
The recruits, who completed the structured training programme, have been retained across Dangote Cement’s operations in Nigeria. The graduate trainee scheme was designed to equip young professionals with hands-on experience in cement manufacturing, engineering, production, logistics and corporate functions, while aligning them with the company’s operational standards.
According to the company, the decision to absorb the graduates reflects performance during the training period and the need to strengthen its local workforce. The programme forms part of Dangote Cement’s long-term approach to building a pipeline of skilled Nigerian professionals for its operations, while reducing dependence on expatriate labour.
Dangote Cement, Africa’s largest cement producer, operates several plants across the country and employs thousands of Nigerians directly and indirectly. The company has consistently used structured training programmes as a key recruitment channel for early-career professionals.
Analysts say the move highlights continued investment in human capital by large manufacturers, even amid economic pressures, and underscores the role of structured graduate programmes in addressing skills gaps within Nigeria’s industrial sector.
