November 17, (THEWILL) — Dangote Petroleum Refinery has dismissed as false a widely circulating video suggesting that the company has introduced a motorcycle-based fuel delivery service. The company described the footage and accompanying claims as fabricated and not connected to any of its operations.
The video, shared across various online spaces, shows motorcycles carrying small fuel tanks and bearing what appear to be Dangote markings. The clip was circulated with captions claiming that the refinery had launched a new scheme to deliver petrol directly to consumers.
In a statement released through its verified communication channels, Dangote rejected the claims outright, clarifying that it has no motorcycle-based fuel distribution initiative.
The circulating video is fake. Dangote Petroleum Refinery has not launched or announced any motorcycle-based distribution service, the company stated, urging the public to disregard the misleading content.
The company also advised consumers to depend only on information issued through its official website and verified social media accounts.
The clarification arrives at a time when the refinery’s distribution practices continue to draw significant public scrutiny, owing to its expanding role in Nigeria’s fuel supply landscape. Since beginning commercial output, the refinery has been under constant observation from marketers, consumer groups, and industry analysts — all trying to assess how its logistics model will reshape fuel availability and pricing across the country.
Recently, Dangote announced the deployment of thousands of CNG-powered trucks to support its nationwide distribution plan. The strategy, aimed at reducing delivery costs and improving fuel access, has generated considerable public interest and occasional misinformation as Nigerians follow developments around the refinery’s impact.
Analysts say this heightened interest has created an environment where unofficial or misleading content is quick to gain traction, prompting Dangote to issue more frequent public clarifications.
Dangote reiterated that it does not operate any unapproved fuel distribution channels and will continue countering false claims that misrepresent its services.
