September 04, (THEWILL) — The Dangote Refinery has shut down its petrol processing unit to fix catalyst leaks and other technical issues.
Reuters reports that the plant’s 204,000 barrels-per-day Residue Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (RFCCU) has been offline since August 29.
Although the refinery has yet to issue an official statement, the repair work is expected to last at least two weeks.
Commissioned in January 2024, the $20bn refinery, with a daily refining capacity of 650,000 barrels, started producing petrol in September 2024, marking a major step in reducing Nigeria’s long dependence on imported fuel.
