BEVERLY HILLS, February 11, (THEWILL) – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized houses and other properties belonging to former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, and other senior military officers allegedly involved in the $2.1bn arms scam.
According to reports, the properties owned by Amosu; a former Chief of Accounts and Budgeting of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal J.B. Adigun; and a former Director of Finance and Budget, Air Commodore O. O. Gbadebo, are located in Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA and Badagry areas of Lagos State.
The properties includes a block of 12 luxury flats, located on Agodogba Street, Park View Estate, Ikoyi, worth over N1.7bn; another block of luxury flats on Sinari Daranijo Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, worth N1.8bn and a parcel of land, located on Bourdillon Drive, Ikoyi, worth N908m, all belonging to Adigun.
An ultra-modern hospital on Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, worth about N85m, a house located on Adeyemo Alakija Street, GRA Ikeja, worth over N200m, a house in Badagry, Lagos, a bulletproof Toyota Sports Utility Vehicle and a Toyota Avalon, all belonging to Amosu were also seized.
Also, a block of eight two-bedroomed flats in a border town between Lagos and Ogun states, with a fish pond in the compound, belonging to Gbadebo was sealed.
Sources at EFCC revealed to THEWILL that Amosu and some other senior officers are being probed by the EFCC specifically in relation to 10 contracts of the NAF, said to be worth $930,500,690.00.
Amosu is also alleged to have procured two second-hand Mi-24V Helicopters which were not operationally airworthy at the time of delivery at a cost of $136.9m while a brand new unit of such helicopters costs about $30m.
