Suspected herdsmen have shot and killed Mrs Funke Olakunrin, a daughter of the National Leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
She was killed while she was traveling along the Benin-Ore Expressway at about 2:00 pm on Friday.
The news was confirmed by the PRO of Ondo State Police Command, SP Femi Joseph.
According to him, seven other commuters who were abducted along the highway have been rescued by the police.
