SAN FRANCISCO, December 12, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali has denied sending letters to the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin and Chief of the Naval Staff, CNS, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, directing them to hand over their offices on or before Friday, 16 December.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Public Relations Officer, PRO, Colonel Tukur Gusau, the Minister debunked the report circulating in the social media and published by some online platforms.
The PRO said there was no such communication between the office of the Defence minister and the service chiefs directing any one of them to hand over his office and proceed on retirement, stressing that “the appointment and replacement of service chiefs is a prerogative responsibility of the office of the President and Commander in Chief”.
The statement went on to enjoin media professionals to always balance their stories from the right sources to avoid spreading mischief.
