BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 13, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared Mr. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the Delta Central Senatorial bye-election conducted on Saturday, 12th October, 2013.
While declaring the results, the Returning Officer, Prof. John Arubayi said the PDP scored a total of 263,034 votes, DPP 29,055 votes while APC polled 28,585 votes.
A breakdown of the results are as follows: Ughelli North; PDP scored 51,397 votes, APC 11,138 votes, DPP 5,706 votes; Ughelli South; PDP 38,931 votes, DPP 2,552 votes, APC 2,212 votes. Udu; PDP 53,700 votes, DPP 4,037 votes, APC 4,598 votes. Sapele; PDP 19,795 votes, DPP 5,003 votes, APC 2,194 votes. Okpe; PDP 8,138 votes, DPP 1,914 votes, APC 1,065 votes. Ethiope East; PDP 10,616 votes, DPP 5,844 votes, APC 3,195 votes. Ethiope West; PDP 46,571 votes, DPP 1,449 votes, APC 1,912 votes. Uvwie; PDP 33,886 votes, DPP 2550 votes, APC 2,271 votes.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)candidate in the Delta Central by-election which held on Saturday, Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, has been declared the Senator-Elect to replace the late Senator Pius Ewherido who died in June.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer, Prof. John Arubayi, who declared the result, said the PDP scored a total of 263,034 votes, DPP 29,055 votes while APC 28,585 votes.
Breaking down the results, the INEC chief disclosed that in Ughelli North; PDP scored 51,397 votes, APC 11,138 votes, DPP 5,706 votes.In Ughelli South, he said PDP scored 38,931 votes, DPP 2,552 votes, APC 2,212 votes.
In Udu, PDP scored 53,700 votes as against DPP 4,037 votes and APC 4,598 votes.
In Sapele; PDP got 19,795 votes, DPP 5,003 votes, APC 2,194 votes. Okpe; PDP 8,138 votes, DPP 1,914 votes, APC 1,065 votes. Ethiope East; PDP 10,616 votes, DPP 5,844 votes, APC 3,195 votes. Ethiope West; PDP 46,571 votes, DPP 1,449 votes, APC 1,912 votes. Uvwie; PDP 33,886 votes, DPP 2550 votes, APC 2,271 votes.
Reacting to the results, Chairman of the PDP in Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Tom Amioku, said he was very happy that the PDP won gallantly.
He said the opposition parties lost the election because they were not prepared and don’t have structure.
“The DPP structure has been disorganised by division. But the PDP is intact and campaigned across the whole units, wards, communities, street by street and local government areas and that accounted for our victory,” he said.
He added that since the senator-elect, Aguariavwodo ,is not a new man at the national as such would surely deliver.
“He was a House of Representatives member from 1999 to 2002. Although the period was short, he is going there to fit into the process of legislation and representation of the senatorial district on all issues of development and negotiation as they affect the Urhobo nation.
“I want those that lost to have the spirit of sportsmanship because losers and winners are bound to emerge. It is not all the time that you lose that you cry wolf, so that you can have enough time to prepare for the next round,” he said..
