SAN FRANCISCO, October 26, (THEWILL) – AC Milan’s star Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has returned a positive test result for coronavirus, the Italian club announced in a statement on Monday.
He was among five cases confirmed by the club after Sunday’s tests, along with Jens Petter Hauge and three other members of the team.
The Rossoneri sit atop Serie A ahead of their game in hand against Roma on Monday.
As a consequence, Donnarumma and Hauge cannot turn out for that match at San Siro. Fortunately, the remainder of the squad tested negative.
“All are asymptomatic, were immediately subjected to home isolation and the local health authorities were informed,” Milan’s statement read.
The keeper has been an ever-present and confident performer in Milan’s eight league and Europa League games this season. Domestically, Donnarumma has three clean sheets in four matches, conceding only in the 2-1 derby win over Inter helping Milan to a strong 12 points and to the summit of the league.
His save percentage of 90.9 per cent is the best in the Italian top flight.

In his absence, Romanian Ciprian Tatarusanu will be chanced to make his Milan debut after joining the Italians from French Ligue 1 side Lyon in the September transfer window.
Tatarusanu appeared only twice in his single season with Lyon, keeping one clean sheet and making nine saves at a rate of 81.8 per cent.
