November 26, (THEWILL) — Borussia Dortmund delivered a comprehensive 4-0 victory over 10-man Villarreal in their UEFA Champions League fixture on Tuesday evening, despite missing two penalties during the match at Signal Iduna Park.
Serhou Guirassy opened the scoring in the closing stages of a subdued first half, converting from close range. The Bundesliga outfit’s evening took a decisive turn seven minutes into the second period when Juan Foyth received a red card for handball on the line.
Guirassy stepped up to convert the resulting penalty at the second attempt after Luiz Junior had initially saved his effort, with the striker netting the rebound to make it 2-0.
Karim Adeyemi added a third goal in unusual fashion before Fabio Silva missed Dortmund’s second penalty late on, striking the crossbar. Daniel Svensson completed the scoring with a header to seal the emphatic win.
