DSS Frees Senator Abaribe After 5-Day Incarceration

BEVERLY HILLS, June 26, (THEWILL) – Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the senator representing Abia South on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been released by the Department of State Services, DSS, after about five days in custody.

The senator was released on administrative bail to his lawyers on Tuesday afternoon in Abuja.

THEWILL recalls that Abaribe was arrested at the Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja and transported to his home before a search warrant was executed.

His lawyers told journalists that he was detained on allegations of supporting the now proscribed pro-Biafra group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Abaribe had stood in as surety for Nnnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the group, whose where about remains unknown.
