
October 13, (THEWILL) — The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned members of the public against dealing with Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed officer of the Service, who is allegedly impersonating the agency to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement issued by the DSS Public Relations Department, the agency described Godwin’s conduct as “unscrupulous,” stating that he has been using the name of the Service to engage in fraudulent activities.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby alerts members of the public of the activities of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff. He is reportedly engaging in unscrupulous activities, including using the name of the Service to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement read.
The DSS urged Nigerians to exercise caution and refrain from any dealings with Godwin, adding that any suspicious encounters or fraudulent requests linked to him should be promptly reported.
“For requests, enquiries or complaints, the Service can be reached on 09088373515 or via email at dsspr@dss.gov.ng,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety and institutional integrity, the Service called on citizens to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to impostors posing as security operatives.
