January 09, (THEWILL) – Everton have terminated the employment of manager, Sean Dyche, ahead of their FA Cup third-round match against Peterborough. The decision follows a challenging period for the English Premier League side, with only three victories recorded from 19 matches in the current season.
The managerial change occurs at a critical moment for Everton, who currently stand precariously positioned one point above the relegation zone. Dyche, who began his tenure in January 2023, departs alongside his complete coaching team, including Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer.
Prior to his departure, Dyche acknowledged the scrutiny surrounding his position, stating, “To be clear, it should be. At the end of the day, if you’re a business of this size, and this club, a succession plan should surely be part of their diligence.”

That’s the job, and we haven’t done that often enough, and it comes down to me, without any shadow of a doubt.”
The immediate management of first-team responsibilities falls to the Under-18 manager, Leighton Baines, and club captain, Seamus Coleman. This temporary arrangement will begin with Thursday’s FA Cup encounter against Peterborough United.
