SAN FRANCISCO, September 30, (THEWILL) – Explosives went off few meters to the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Garrison junction, Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, on Sunday.
The sound is believed to be an exploded dynamite which eyewitness said was thrown from a moving car.
There was chaos as party delegates and journalists had to scamper for safety and sparked tension in the area.
Security operatives stationed at the APC secretariat rushed to the spot where dynamites exploded but the suspected thugs who dropped it had fled in a Toyota Camry car which conveyed them there.
The APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are having their governorship primaries on the same day.
While PDP is holding its at Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, there is confusion in the APC as two factions, one loyal to Magnus Abe, Senator representing Rivers south east, and the other loyal to Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of transportation, are set for parallel primaries.
While the Amaechi group has said that it would adopt the indirect primary to choose its candidate, the Abe group is embracing the direct primary.
