July 29, (THEWILL) — The Ebonyi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the Vanco Junction Flyover and Tunnel projects, which were flagged off on May 28, 2024, by the Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi, to commemorate the first anniversary of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration.
The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Stanley Lebechi Mbam, gave the assurance during an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing construction at the Vanco Junction site in Abakaliki.
Mbam expressed confidence that the Nwifuru-led administration was fully committed to delivering the state-of-the-art infrastructure within the scheduled timeframe of 24 months.
According to him, the 4.61km tunnel and flyover bridge, located at the Vincent Agwu Nwankwo Junction, will significantly boost the state’s economy upon completion.
“We thank His Excellency for his lion heart, massive innovation, and the implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs, which he brought on board as Governor of Ebonyi State,” Mbam said.
“Today, we are witnessing a transformation—one that is propelling Ebonyi to greater heights in development, economic growth, and prosperity.
“We are at the Vanco Flyover, one of his signature projects. It features a tunnel of about one kilometre and a 28-span bridge.”
Addressing criticisms about the pace of the administration, Mbam said although some people claim Governor Nwifuru is moving slowly, several projects have already been completed.
“Our focus is not on commissioning every completed project. The government is more concerned with delivering quality infrastructure that meets the needs of the people,” he added.
