September 01, (THEWILL) – The Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Princess Patricia Obila, has expressed the state Government’s readiness to engage elders and traditional institutions to ensure peace across the state.
The Deputy Governor stated this when she received the Essa Ehugbo Traditional Council of Elders in her office, Old Government House, Abakaliki.
Princess Obila said she was impressed with the contributions of Essa Ehugbo to ensuring peace and tranquillity in every part of Afikpo Local Government Area and appealed for Unity and oneness of Ehugbo irrespective of political party or religious affiliations, in order to benefit maximally in the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
She charged the Essa Ehugbo Traditional Council of Elders to ensure equity and justice in the zoning and selection of Traditional Rulers in their various communities, while calling on the elders to inform their children of the ongoing recruitment and empowerment programmes in the state, saying that she was ready to assist them where necessary.
Earlier, The leaders of the delegation, Chief Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali, member EBHA and Ichie Christopher Abagha Egwu, said they were in her office to congratulate her and her boss, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, on their victory and promised to stand with her at all times.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor has also received a delegation of Ebonyi Women Inclusion (EBO-WIN), led by Dr Ngozi Obichukwu, Commissioner for Aviation and Technology.
The Deputy Governor, who was elated to receive the women’s group, appreciated their steadfastness in supporting the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and assured of her commitment to ensuring that Ebonyi women benefit maximally in appointments and empowerment programmes.
The leader of the delegation, Dr Ngozi Obichukwu, said they came to express their support and equally round off this year’s August meeting in her office.
The Deputy Governor later embarked on an inspection of facilities within the old Government House, Abakaliki and directed the immediate renovation of the old Government House security Post for the comfort of security personnel in the facility.
The events were attended by some principal officers including the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engr Timothy Nwachi Timothy, Personal Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Nnaemeka Emmanuel, Chief Okechukwu Nwakpu, among others.
