BEVERLY HILLS, November 05, (THEWILL) – Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Thursday, slammed the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over the state of roads in the state.
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chris O Nehikhare, the party lamented what it described as the dismal state of the inter-local roads which, according to the party, “has been worsened by the periodic play of utilising them to curry favour with the unwary Edo public.”
The Edo PDP listed the bad roads to include Ihama road, Akhinobare road, Ugbor, Gapiona ,Central roads, Upper mission, Lucky way, Evbotubu market road, Ugbiyioko axis, impassable! Third east circular/UpperSakponba junction, among many others.
The party said that there are no good roads in Edo State and the government doesn’t give a damn!
“Governor Oshiomhole isn’t worried as he plans to use his now familiar tactics of deploying caterpillars and mobilising some contractors to site as soon as election is approaching,” the statement said.
The party said that close watchers of the Oshiomhole administration point to the ongoing subtle pre-election preparations in Edo State where the initial popularity of the Oshiomhole Administration has nose-dived to an all-time low and signals a negative result that will reflect the actual thinking in the state’s political space.
“ It is obvious that the Oshiomhole camp is piling up a strong financial war-chest, in the last four months, he has received $75m, N10b and another N3b as loans and bailout funds not statutory allocations, not local government funds and not IGR, to fight a last ditch battle to maintain and retain his strangle-hold on the state at the expiry of his dictatorial and scandal filled double tenure,” the PDP alleged.
“It is conventional wisdom in Edo State that everyone is now aware that the regular gambit of mobilising contractors and equipment to sites on election periods, no longer bother the people. They have long deciphered the truth about the Oshiomhole/APC posturing in their desperation to garner votes through deceit.”
The statement alleged further that if within the period of seven years, “Oshiomhole and his administration squandered over a trillion naira to put in place some over-priced, over-hyped and so-called “legacy” projects, Edolites will not welcome or tolerate another round of administrative incubus being arranged to foist an Oshiomhole-tutored surrogate on the people of Edo State. “
The party said: ”We have passed through the crucible of seven years of contrived dictatorship and should not expose our fragile and over-flogged flanks to be the battering ram of those whose set objectives are more selfish than pristine or altruistic.”
