EFCC - LEGE - Olakunle Alex Folarin

August 25, (THEWILL) — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disowned and ordered the arrest of a dismissed staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, after he appeared on a matchmaking show hosted by popular entertainer, Lege Miami, while parading himself as an officer of the agency.

In a statement on its official X handle on Monday, the EFCC clarified that Folarin, a former driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate, was dismissed for presenting forged documents.

Despite his dismissal, he allegedly retained EFCC property, including an identity card, which he failed to return.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, consequently directed his immediate arrest for unlawful possession of official items, stressing that Folarin’s recent activities should not be linked to the Commission.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission condemns in the strongest terms the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme on Lege Miami’s social media platforms.

“Folarin was recently dismissed from the Commission for certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC,” the statement read in part.

The agency reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, noting that all staff are held to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

It further urged the public not to associate Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the Commission, warning against attempts to impersonate its personnel.
