SAN FRANCISCO, June 15, (THEWILL) – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Ali Modu Sheriff, embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for questioning in connection with the 2015 PDP presidential campaign funds.
This will be the second time that Sheriff will be questioned by the EFCC after turning himself to the agency earlier in the month in connection with alleged misappropriation of parts of the N300bn Borno state received from the federation account while he was governor between 2003 and 2011.
The new invitation is coming just as Sheriff is facing stiff opposition from some leaders of his party and has been accused of being an agent of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Although, he has maintained his innocence, he has vowed to complete his term as Chairman of the PDP till 2018 and refused to recognise the new leadership set up by the party.
