November 05, (THEWILL) – The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has died at age 64.
Justice Adeyeye died on Monday, at a tertiary hospital in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
Ekiti State Chapter of the Association of International Female Lawyers (FIDA), confirmed the sad development in a condolence statement to his family.
“With deep sorrow in our hearts and in total submission to the will of God, FIDA Ekiti consoles with the family of the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Hon Justice Oyewole Adeyeye on his call to glory.
“May He find rest with his maker.
“I pray that God grants the family, the Judiciary and the people of Ekiti State, the grace to bear this irreparable loss.
“Adieu great one”, the statement read.
Born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, Justice Adeyeye joined the legal profession in 1986 after being called to the bar.
His career began as a state counsel in the civil service of old Ondo State, before he moved to Ekiti in 1996, where he became part of the Judiciary Service Commission. Elevated to the Ekiti State High Court bench in 2002, he went on to serve on multiple election petition tribunals over the years, bringing his expertise to the state judiciary.
Justice Adeyeye was sworn in as Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, under the administration of former Governor, Kayode Fayemi.
