BEVERLY HILLS, CA, December 01, (THEWILL) – Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has alleged plots by his home government, Enugu State, to discredit him.
He also raised the alarm alleging that the Governor of the State, Barr Sullivan Chime, plans to disrupt or destroy Federal Government projects in the state, particularly those of Enugu West Senatorial district, which was attracted by him.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Projects, Engr. Bethel Onyenyiri, the deputy Senate President said he has it on good authority; “that the Governor held a clandestine meeting with some government functionaries in the State to not only initiate a campaign to discredit the Deputy President of the Senate, but also to sabotage and possibly destroy the numerous projects attracted by the Deputy President of the Senate.”
While asking his constituents to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands, he also urged them to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement completed or on-going projects to the security authorities.
“Vigilance remains the price for liberty. This is therefore only a call on you, our constituents, and the good people of Enugu State to guard all completed and on-going projects within your localities. We call on you to report suspicious movements around such projects to the security agencies. For emphasis, you are not to take the laws into your hands by any means.
“We do not care about their pull-him-down campaign, for while you may fool the blind that there is no palm oil in the soup, you cannot fool him/her as to whether or not there is salt in the soup. It is left for you, our dear constituents, to judge for yourselves if Ikeoha Ndigbo has lived up to his mandate, even beyond expectations.
“It must be stressed that the mandate any public officer holds is the mandate to build, and not to destroy. It is a mandate to sow and nurture peace, not acrimony. It is a mandate to champion development, build an egalitarian society, bring good news to the poor, heal the broken-hearted, and announce release to captives and freedom to those in the prisons of injustice and deprivation.
“This is the banner of Ikeoha’s crusade of transformation. Therefore, be rest assured, that he remains committed to this divine call to service. He refuses to be distracted,” Onyenyiri said.
