November 02, (THEWILL) – It was a roll call of “who is who” in Igboland and Nigeria at large, at Atta Ikeduru Local Government Area, the country home of late Igbo patriarch, Chief (Dr) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, for his burial.
Among the eminent personalities who joined the state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in the funeral service at the St James Anglican Cathedral, Atta, to pay their last respect to Chief Iwuanyanwu included President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
Others were the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, represented by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential candidate of Labour Party, during the last Presidential election, Mr Peter Obi, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State.
The Governor of Anambra State, Soludo, and his Ebonyi counterpart, Nwifuru, were represented by their deputies.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Kalu and a good number of members of the Green chambers, former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, many former Governors, Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady (Dr) Chinyere Ekomaru, Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly and almost all members of the Imo House of Assembly, members of Imo State Expanded Executive Council.
Others still included Chairman, Imo State Traditional Institution and Community Policing, Eze E.C Okeke, Chairman Imo State Council of Elders, Eze C.I Ilomuanya, Dr ABC Orjiako.
Past Governors from many states of the Federation, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo from different parts of the world, serving and past Ministers, captains of industry and in fact, people from all walks of life.
They were unanimous in their assertion that it would be a herculean task to recount the legacies the Ahaejiagamba left behind, as well as the fact that he left behind a very large shoe that would be too big for anyone to feel.
They also promised the quest for good governance and full integration of the Igbo Nation in the Nigerian polity, as well as the quest for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Meanwhile, the remains of the late Chief Iwuanyanwu were earlier received at the Imo State Government House, by the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who extolled the virtues of the immediate past President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, describing him as a great leader who contributed unquantifiably to the development of Imo State and Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the first son of the deceased, Mr Jidechukwu Iwuanyanwu, told the Governor that the remains of his father was brought to the Government House as past leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
From Imo State Government House, the body of late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was taken to the Cathedral of Transfiguration of Our Lord, CATOL, Owerri, for a commendation service, where the Governor of Imo state read the only lesson from the bible.
