BEVERLY HILLS, December 05, (THEWILL) – Enugu State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime has withdrawn from the Enugu West Senatorial race to allow Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, clinch the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to the Senate.
Chime and Ekweremadu have been locked in a bitter fight over the seat.
Chime’s withdrawal is coming 24-hours before the National Assembly primary elections of the PDP holding nationwide Saturday.
A report in the Daily Sun, a national newspaper in Nigeria, said Chime announced his decision to stakeholders in the state during a meeting on Wednesday night.
The newspaper also added that Chime’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Chukwudi Achife, confirmed the governor’s withdrawal following a stakeholders meeting brokered by President Goodluck Jonathan.
