May 06, (THEWILL) – Nottingham Forest missed the opportunity to return to the English Premier League top five following a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
The result extends Forest’s disappointing run to just one victory in their past five league fixtures.
The significance of the match was evident given recent victories by competitors Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Chelsea, yet Forest began tentatively. Palace created the first meaningful opportunity after 30 minutes when Tyrick Mitchell delivered a cross to Daniel Munoz, whose volley forced a save from Matz Sels.
Before half-time, Forest countered with Chris Wood setting up Anthony Elanga, but Dean Henderson produced an excellent save to deny the visitors.

Forest responded promptly through Murillo, whose outstretched leg redirected Neco Williams’ strike into the net.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, with Eze striking the crossbar and Eddie Nketiah having a stoppage-time goal disallowed for offside, leaving the final score level at 1-1.
The result leaves Forest two points outside the UCL qualification places, despite having occupied third position for much of the season. Palace, meanwhile, are set for their ninth bottom-half finish in EPL campaigns, continuing their pattern of mid-table stability without making significant progress toward European competition.
