December 02, (THEWILL) – The group stage draw for the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship was held today in Hamburg, Germany, setting the stage for next summer’s major tournament. England, runners-up at Euro 2020, have been drawn into a competitive Group C alongside rivals Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia.

Gareth Southgate’s England side will be eager for revenge against the Danish team that dramatically eliminated them in the Euro 2020 semi-finals. England cruised through qualifying with a perfect record and will be among the favourites next summer. They kick off their campaign against Slovenia on June 14 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Host nation Germany open the tournament against Steve Clarke’s Scotland side in Group A on June 14 in Munich. Switzerland and Hungary complete the group. Reigning European champions Italy also face a tricky draw in Group B with three-time winners Spain, 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia and Albania.

The last three spots will be filled in March during the playoffs. Wales are hoping to qualify for a third straight Euros but must get past Finland and then potentially Estonia or Poland to book their place. The Euro 2024 final will take place on July 7, 2024, at Berlin’s iconic Olympiastadion.

With less than 200 days to go, the countdown is on to what promises to be a thrilling and hotly-contested 16th edition of the UEFA European Championship next summer. England will be out for revenge but with powerhouses like Spain, Germany, France and Italy in the mix, the trophy could go anywhere.
