April 20, (THEWILL) – Injury-plagued striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, is to make his long-awaited return for Everton in their crucial away trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The striker has not played since early February, due to a thigh injury and with Everton hovering just above the relegation zone, his return is seen as a boost to their survival hopes. Manager Sean Dyche confirmed that Calvert-Lewin will be in the squad for the game.
Despite his admiration for Palace’s 75-year-old interim manager, Roy Hodgson, Dyche stated that “any niceties would be put to one side once the whistle goes on Saturday”. Everton, who currently have 27 points from 31 games, face a Palace side, which have won three successive games since Hodgson’s return.
Everton suffered a second successive league defeat last weekend at home to Fulham, which did little to suggest they can distance themselves from the bottom three. In addition to Calvert-Lewin, Amadou Onana has returned to training following a groin injury although experienced defender Seamus Coleman is unavailable due to a thigh injury.
Dyche has yet to decide whether Calvert-Lewin will start the game, but stated that the striker will certainly be in his thinking. The return of the 24-year-old will provide a much-needed boost to Everton as they look to secure their English Premier League status.
