SAN FRANCISCO, December 05, (THEWILL) – Senator Benedict Ayade, 45, a first term senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District at the Senate has received the backing of Cross Rivers State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, to succeed him in office in 2015, THEWILL can exclusively report.
Two sources with knowledge of the development Friday night told THEWILL that Ayade, the Vice-Chairman of the Senate committee on Environment and Ecology, regarded for his oratory prowess, was chosen by Governor Imoke amongst four other top contenders for the PDP governorship ticket.
Governor Imoke had closely guarded his preference for Ayade for weeks until Friday when he informed the senator and very close associates of his decision.
Ayade is also a member of the Senate Committees on Education, Marine Transport, Petroleum Downstream, and Drugs/Narcotics/Crime.
Born on March 2, 1969, Ayade studied at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where he earned a PH.D in Environmental Microbiology (1990-1994), MSC (Microbiology) 1989-1990, and Bsc. (Hons) 1984-1988.
He earned an MBA (2000-2002) from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State and earned an LL.B degree (2006-2010) from the Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State, and later lectured as a Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the institution.
According to Wikipedia, Senator Ayade became an Environmental Consultant and was appointed Chairman of the Ecological fund, Chairman of the International Institute of Environmental Research and a member of SPAC.
He worked on Groundwater Remediation in Nigeria, and invented a sewage treatment plant based on solar energy. He won an award from the government of Japan for outstanding research into Global warming in Africa. He became a member of the Nigeria Association of Petroleum Engineers and the Cross River State Poverty Alleviation Board.
The PDP Governorship primary has been slated for Monday, December 08, 2014.
