BEVERLY HILLS, December 25, (THEWILL) – Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN), the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, situated in the Wulari area of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Thursday, organised a special Christmas programme for over 2,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) within the church to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Church, which slaughtered two bulls and prepared different delicacies for the IDPs to enjoy the Christmas, also organised different sporting activities for the displaced persons.

The special programme was meant to spice up the Christmas celebration as most Churches in the troubled city recorded impressive turnout despite the ban on vehicular movement in the town.

Christian faithful determined to attend the Christmas services had to trek long distances to their churches as others embarked on bicycle ride to their various churches because of the restrictions placed on vehicular movement in the state capital.

However, some members could not go through the long trek and had to stay back at home just as some Churches remained under lock and key because of the fear of Boko Haram attacks.
