April 05, (THEWILL) — The FA Cup semi-finals are confirmed, with Southampton set to meet Manchester City and Chelsea drawn against Leeds United at Wembley later this month.
Southampton’s place in the last four was earned through a 2-1 victory over English Premier League leaders Arsenal, with Shea Charles netting the decisive goal in the 85th minute. It is the first time the club has reached the semi-final stage since the 2020/2021 season.
The fixture with Manchester City will be their first meeting since a goalless draw at St. Mary’s in May 2025, and their first FA Cup contest since March 2022, when City prevailed 4-1.
Leeds United qualified for the semi-finals for the first time in 39 years after overcoming West Ham in a quarter-final that finished 2-2 before Daniel Farke’s side won 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out at the London Stadium. The contest was only the second between two EPL clubs in all competitions this season where both sides registered more than 20 shots, after Newcastle’s meeting with Bournemouth in January.
Chelsea, whose manager Liam Rosenior is targeting his first trophy in the role, reached this stage with a 7-0 demolition of League One side Port Vale. Both ties will be staged at Wembley on the weekend of April 25-26, with the final to follow at the same venue on May 16.
