BEVERLY HILLS, CA, July 10, (THEWILL) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has informed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) that the outcome of the Category 1 Recertification exercise will be communicated to the Authority in September, this year.
This is to allow the regulatory authority sufficient time to file with the FAA the evidence of training of some of its Safety Inspectors who had been slated for the exercise in Europe between now and August.
This was disclosed by the FAA team leader to Nigeria, Andre J. Lamarre at the NCAA’s Conference Facility, yesterday.
Lamarre who led a three-man team comprising Michael Jennisin and James Plasman said the most important thing to FAA at this juncture is the sustenance of a robust oversight of the industry and strict enforcement of compliance of safety regulation by NCAA.
The team arrived at the Aviation House, Headquarters of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), yesterday, ostensibly to conclude the final phase of the Category 1 Recertification which began in March, this year.
Lamarre said his job here is to verify all corrective actions, the dates, the plans, the completion of trainings.
“We will thereafter make our recommendations based on the verification of items corrected that we have found here. We will look at what is opened and what is closed and communicate back to Washington on the category,” Lamarre said.
Engr. Benedict Adeyileka, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), who welcomed the team to Lagos, said the regulatory authority has closed all the findings from the March audit.
According to him, the only area left is the Recurrent training and it can be regarded as a closure since the Authority has signed contract for recurrences with various Simulators organizations. Simulator training has commenced in earnest and we have a spreadsheet of confirmed dates.
Reacting with optimism, Engr. Adeyileka thanked the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and its representatives for the meticulous approach during the exercise.
He praised the NCAA team for their dedication and hard work saying he was absolutely confident of a positive outcome in September.
